Last week I started my second Bargue, this one is a bigger one with charcoal. I am going to try to think more about "line qualities" in the early stages. I meant in terms of drawing shadow shapes, I would put down soft shapes with accented sharp edges if there is any.
So in my second image, I was going for simply identifying shadow and light shapes, drawing them out simply. Then it was all too distracting. The next one shows you how I simplified them, along with some emphasis on defining "line qualities". Do let me know what you think if you have any thoughts!
